New Honda City and Civic- What to expect

Honda is going back to two of its greatest hits-the City and Civic. The Honda City is a brand in its own right and has a huge fan following which explains why it still manages to hold its own against new competition from SUVs etc. But with Hyundai readying the new Verna, the City facelift coming in earlier will be a major reboot to solidify its segment leader status. The engines will be the same but what has changed is the bits that needed to with the styling ad features. LED headlamps and tail-lamps along with new alloys plus a new touchscreen infotainment system brings it up to speed. The City is a crucial car and this facelift could nothave come at a better time.

However Honda has also been losing customers who upgrade from their City to a new SUV or D-Segment sedan. With the D-segment sedans facing the heat from SUVs, the recent launch of the new Elantra has changed things a bit but the Civic-despite not being in the Indian market for a long time, still enjoys a loyal customer base and its popularity is the reason why Honda will be bringing in the new Civic sooner rather than later. The new generation Civic is hugely impressive and with petrol cars back in demand, the timing is perfect. Of course it will not be able to match the sales of a similarly priced SUV, but it will expand the segment and will be the best seller no doubt. Sedans may have been losing favour in face of SUVs, but they are back and Honda is leading the charge.
