Maruti Suzuki spices up MPV competition, launches limited edition Ertiga
Maruti Suzuki launched a limited edition of its MPV Ertiga on Wednesday, priced between Rs 7.85 lakh and Rs 8.10 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi.
Leading the multi-purpose vehicle segment since its 2012 launch, Ertiga has sold over three lakh units, according to a company statement. Other players in the segment Honda Mobilio launched in 2014 and the 2015-launched Renault MPV Lodgy, both of which have meager market share.
The limited edition Ertiga, available only in the VXi and VDi variants, will only be cosmetically different from the regular models. The limited edition Ertiga will be available in three colours -- Exquisite Maroon, Silky Silver and Superior White.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, which has over 46% market share in India sells Ertiga in seven petrol variants, including one CNG and one automatic transmission version each, and five diesel variants powered by the Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) technology.
The Honda Mobilio sports standard 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine and 1.5 L i-VTEC petrol engine, while the Lodgy comes packed with a 1461-cc diesel engine tuned at two different power levels: 85PS delivering 19.98kmpl and 110PS delivering 21.04 kmpl.
From February to December 2016, Maruti Suzuki sold over 55,000 units of Ertiga. Renault has sold around 4,500 units of Lodgy, and Honda sold more than 2,900 units of Mobilio during the same period. The Japanese carmaker might discontinue selling Mobilio soon.
