2017 Maruti DZire will be most fuel efficient conventional car in India

Maruti announced that the company is starting to take bookings for the all-new DZire at a payment of Rs. 11,000. The compact sedan will launch on 16th May and most of the details about the car are out except the fuel efficiency.

As per leaked information, the all-new Maruti DZire will return a phenomenal fuel efficiency of 28.40 km/l with the diesel engine. It is an increase of 2 km/l over the last model. Maruti will reveal the official fuel efficiency on 16th May with the launch.

Interestingly, the new Maruti DZire is powered by the same engines that were used in the last generation of the vehicle. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre 82 Bhp-115 Nm motor while the diesel engine is 1.3-litre 73 Bhp – 190 Nm motor. Both the engines come with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT. The increase in fuel efficiency can be linked to the massive weight reduction of the vehicle.

The new DZire is based on the lightweight Baleno platform. The vehicle loses up to 105 kg of weight depending on the variant of the model. The DZire also offers more space inside. The wheelbase, the shoulder room and the boot space have increased with the new model. Maruti has made the vehicle shorter in height, and it also has lower ground clearance than the previous model. The new DZire offers 163mm of ground clearance, which is 7mm lower than the outgoing model.

The new DZire will also offer many premium features like LED DRLs, diamond cut 15-inch alloy wheels on the outside while there is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto based touchscreen infotainment system in the vehicle. The car also gets faux wood panels on the dashboard and the steering wheel, giving it a premium feeling. All the variants will be offered with standard ABS and airbags. Maruti is expected to slightly raise the price of the new model. Stay tuned as we bring you live updates from the launch.
