Lexus launches third product, LX 450d

Lexus has finally entered the Indian market with the launch of 2 vehicles, the ES and the RX, both on offer in hybrid guise only. The company has now launched its third product, the LX 450d, which is their flagship model.

What is it?

Like we mentioned above, the LX is the company’s flagship SUV. It shares its underpinnings with Toyota’s flagship SUV, the LC200. This, being the diesel is only on offer in the 5-seater version, unlike the petrol which gets a 7-seater version. The petrol will be launched later in the year.
Power comes from a 4.5 liter twin turbo V8 that produces 261 Bhp and 650 Nm. This is the same engine which is on offer on the LC as well. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. 0-100 comes up in 8.6 seconds and it has a top speed of 210 kmph.
The vehicle comes in only one trim level, which is fully loaded. On offer is a 12.3″ screen which is controlled by a mouse type joystick in the center console, a 4.3″ MFD in the instrument cluster, a 19 speaker Mark Levinson audio system, a coloured heads up display, ambient lighting, rear entertainment package, 4-zone climate control, wireless charging, LED headlamps, tail lamps and fog lamps.
Since it is a SUV, Lexus proudly says that the vehicle has a fording depth of 700 mm, a ground clearance of 225 mm, an approach angle of 25 degrees and a departure angle of 23 degrees.
The vehicle is available in 7 colour options and comes standard with 18″ alloys. There are 2 interior colour options on offer, but only a single  interior trim option (wood).

Pricing?

The vehicle is priced at Rs 2.32 crores, ex-showroom Delhi. The vehicle competes with the Audi Q7, the Mercedes GLS, however based on pricing, the vehicle takes on the Range Rover Vogue. The pricing is much higher than the LC200 as well, which is about a crore cheaper.
