SUVs with Front Dual Airbags below INR 15 lakhs

Recently the Indian version of Renault Duster has received zero star rating in the NCAP crash test raising once again the question on safety equipment being provided by the car manufacturers in India. The base variant of Duster has got the zero star rating proving the fact that since it does not come with front airbag as standard so its occupants are at higher risk. This brings us to the topic that it is not only Duster which does not come standard with front dual airbags there are many so called ‘SUVs’ which do not offer front dual airbags as a standard feature. This leaves us to very few options and we bring you the list of SUVs which offer front dual airbags as standard below INR 15lakhs.

Ford Ecosport

Last year only, Ford had announced that they have upgraded all their cars with front dual airbags standard making them safer than before. The Ecosport is one popular sub-four meter SUV in India for which prices starts from INR 7.18 lakhs. The SUV comes with a choice of 3 engines out of which 2 are petrol engines. The top-end has 6 airbags.

Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta offers dual airbags from its base E variant which is available with the 1.6 petrol engine. Higher trim levels also have an option of a 1.4 diesel and a 1.6 one. The top-end also has side and curtain airbags. Prices start at Rs 9.4 lakhs.

Honda BR-V and WR-V

Both the Honda crossovers offer dual airbags as standard. The 7-seater BRV comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines both being 1.5l. The petrol has an automatic option. The prices for the BRV start at Rs 9.2 lakh. The recently launched WRV which has been accepted well has also dual airbags as standard. Prices for the WRV start at Rs 7.9 lakh.

Maruti S-Cross

All cars sold via the NEXA sales outlets have dual airbags as standard and the S-Cross is no different being the first car to be sold via the NEXA sales outlets. It is available in 1.3 and 1.6 diesel options and prices start at Rs 8.3 lakhs.

Mahindra XUV500

The next offering to offer front dual airbags as standard is XUV500 which competes with Hexa. The XUV500 is the only Mahindra SUV to come standard with this safety feature. The XUV500 comes with only one diesel engine with prices starting from INR 12.47lakhs.

Tata Hexa

The recently launched Tata Hexa is another SUV which comes standard with dual front airbags. The SUV has been positioned as a premium entry level SUV with spacious seating for 7 people hence it does not compromise with the safety at all. Prices for Hexa starts from INR 12.32 lakhs and it comes with a choice of one diesel engine only.
